My research focuses on the intersection of poetics, philosophy, and economic history. In particular, I am interested in the role of figuration in rendering perceptible otherwise unrepresentable aspects of historical transformation.
My teaching focuses on Shakespeare and early modern drama with an emphasis on intermedial adaptation. I teach a course solely on The Tempest, for example, including its operatic, poetic, philosophical, and (many) filmic versions.
My film work attempts to contribute to our understanding of filmic perception. In that way, it derives directly from my research interest in mediation, representation, and transformation.
